Vidi will take a comfortable four goal lead in to the second leg of the Hungarian cup
Videoton FC kicked off the second half of the 2012/13 season with a Hungarian cup match against second division ZTE. The match was played in difficult conditions, with the torrential rain not helping things at all. The groundstaff had to work hard to make sure that this 4th round match could kick off. José Gomes took his place in the dug out for the first time, since his appointment as the new head coach of Videoton FC. He would have been delighted to see his new side take a quick lead. It was a goal with a lovely build up to it, with Oliveira playing the main part. He ran down the left before playing a one-two with Mitrovics, which resulted in Oliveira finding himself with just the keeper to beat, which he did with his usual calm head. Vlaszak in the ZTE goal was helpless as the ball rolled passed him into the net (1-0).
Pavicevic had the first chance for the visitors, but his header went wide following a corner. A defender cleared the danger at the last minute, following a good 5th minute cross from Brachi, with Nikolics waiting to pounce. Videoton were awarded an 8th minute penalty by referee Ando-Szabo. Niko was brought down in the box, and the striker picked himself up to blast the spot kick against the crossbar. Bozsovics in the Vidi goal was alert to deal with a 13th minute Pavicevic shot. The near 2000 crowd inside the wet Sostoi stadium, then saw Nikolics hit the woodwork for the second time in the match. He raced away on 24 minutes, but saw his low shot crash back off the left hand post.
The lead was doubled on the half hour mark with Nikolics ending a goalmouth scramble with a low shot, which rolled in by the near post. Gyurcso had originally showed composure inside the box to set up the goalscorer (2-0). However, the difficult pitch was proving a challenge for both sides to play good football. Bozsovics was once again called upon to keep the dangerous Pavicevic from scoring. He had a strong header once again saved by the tall Montenegro stopper. Vidi were three up before the half time break. Toth passed the ball to Nikolics, with the striker making no mistake from close range (3-0).
Niko could have scored a hattrick in the first half, but his 39th minute effort was ruled offside. There was still time for an Oliveira shot, which again hit the post, and a smart Kovacs shot, which brought the first half to an end. Gomes made one change at half time, bringing on Haraszti in place of defender Szolnoki. ZTE made two changes as both teams came out for the second half.
The second half kicked off with a chance falling to Kovacs, but Vlaszak was able to keep his shot out. ZTE's Babatina could have scored a consolation goal, but the pitch played a role in denying him from finding the back of the net. Gyurcso raced down the right on 57 minutes, before his cross just failed to connect with the arriving Nikolics. Vidi were enjoying more of the possession, and looking to extend their lead. The 66th minute saw a great ball from Mitrovics, which found Paraiba, who then cut the ball back on the right for the arriving Oliveira to sweep the ball home with a lovely shot (4-0).
