BVSC away in the MOL Hungarian Cup

In one of the final matches of the 4th round of the MOL Hungarian Cup (Paks will play at the home of NB II side III. Kerület also on Wednesday at 12:30 pm) our team will be looking to make it through to the next round at the home of BVSC-Zugló, at the Szőnyi úti Stadium.

Founded in 1910, the railway club's football division was already competing in an organised framework in 1924, and first appeared in the top division in 1958, with their best result coming in 1996 under Sándor Egervári, when they won a league and cup silver medal.

The club's football team - already at the adult level - had been discontinued for a while, but the team from Zugló is enthusiastically trying to rebuild it with small steps.They have been promoted from the 4th division of the BLSZ to the NB III in eight years, where they finished second in the Eastern Group last year, and now they are leading the Western Group third division after 15 rounds, where they recently played a 1-1 draw with Vidi II.

The team will be coached by former national team and Premier League player Ákos Buzsáky, while former MLSZ president and NB I head coach István Kisteleki is in charge of the team's professional management.

There are also some familiar names in the squad, the experienced 33-year-old full-back József Nagy has played in 55 top-flight matches, while Roland Fröhlich has scored 7 times in 82 NB I matches, including one goal of the year - against Vidi at the Sósto, in a 5-1 win against Pécs. Norbert Kokenszky, who has scored 21 goals in 15 league games, also caught the attention of the national sports media with a 60-metre goal against Nagykanizsa.

Those who follow Hungarian football more closely may also be familiar with the names of Norbert Szemerédi, a goalkeeper who is mostly on the bench, or the young full-back Zsombor Takács, who played for Honvéd and FTC in the NB I, while Gergő Szalánszki, was brought up by UTE in Gyirmót, and László Erdélyi, a 28-year-old five-time Hungarian U-19 international, also became a first team player at Kispest in 2011.

The qualifying team will continue in the MOL Hungarian Cup next February against NB II Szeged.
