We visit the home of bottom placed Vasas on Saturday night

The team from Angyalföld is yet to win in the OTP Bank League after ten rounds, but they have played the most draws in the NB I this season.

On Saturday we play at the home of Vasas, and Angyalföld is also a significant place in Vidi's history, as on 2nd March 1968 our club played its first ever first division league match here and László Csukovics scored Vidi's first goal in the first division. Saturday's match will be the 95th top-flight match between the two teams, so far we have won 33 times, Vasas 29 times and we have drawn 32 times, the most painful of which was the 2-2 home draw on 16 June 1999, the last match of the 1998/1999 season, which we should have won to stay in the league. Seven years later, we drew 2-2 with Vasas, but we still look back on that with pleasure, as it was in the Hungarian Cup final and we won the Hungarian Cup on penalties.

Vasas won the NB II championship last season, and after their relegation in 2018, they were back in the top flight in 2022. In the first ten rounds, the Angyalföld-based red-blue team drew six times (Kecskemét - Vasas 0-0, Vasas - Paks 2-2, DVSC - Vasas 1-1, Mezőkövesd - Vasas 1-1, Vasas - PAFC 1-1, Vasas - ZTE 1-1) and lost four times (Vasas - Bp. Honvéd 1-2, Vasas - FTC 0-1, Újpest - Vasas 2-1, Kisvárda - Vasas 2-0). It is clear to see that our opponents on Saturday have never scored more than two goals and scored at least one goal in all but three matches.
