We kick off the new season at the home of Újpest FC

The Budapest club have played six training matches this summer, winning four and losing two.

On Saturday evening at 20:15 we will play at the Szusza Ferenc Stadium in the first round of the OTP Bank Liga NB I. The purple and white team finished 8th last season.

This will be the 121st league match between the two teams. Of the 120 meetings so far, we have won 50, lost 44 and drawn 26. The goal difference is 184-170 in our favour, which is a remarkable average of three goals per game.

Újpest FC's current coat of arms bears the year 1885, the year when Újpest Gymnastics Club was founded - where UTE's activities initially included gymnastics, then fencing and athletics - and football was established in Újpest 14 years later, in 1899.

In Hungary, the National Championship started in 1901, where Újpest was placed in the second division. The club's football team was promoted to the first division in 1905, from where it was relegated at the end of the 1910/1911 championship, but they were back in the top flight a year later. Since the 1912 championship, Újpest have been in the top division continuously, becoming the Hungarian record holders.

In the summer pre-season period, Újpest played six training matches, winning four (Újpest - Budafok 2-0, Újpest - BVSC 2-1, St. Pölten - Újpest 1-4, České Budějovice - Újpest 1-4) and losing two (Újpest - Vasas 2-3, Újpest - Al-Fateh 0-1)

In recent weeks they have had several arrivals and departures.
