Goals from Lazovic (2) and Scepovic earned Vidi three important points to go back to the top of the league table.
The top two sides in the Hungarian NB1 met at the Pancho Arena on Saturday. Match 22 of the season saw Honved travel to Felcsut to take on Henning Berg's Videoton. The Vidi manager made one change to last week's line-up. Anel Hadzic was suspended after collected 5 yellow cards and Attila Fiola came in.
The first 15 minutes passed by without a chance at either end. It was Honved's Kamber who sent a long range shot at the Vidi goal, but his powerful effort deflected off a player and Kovacsik pulled off a very smart save. The visitors had another chance 20 minutes later when Lanzafame set up Zsoter on the left, and his volley went wide of the goal. Videoton took the lead after 38 minutes with a stunning goal. Lazovic released Suljic, whose back heel fell kindly into the path of the Serbian forward. Lazovic hit a sweet left foot lob over the stranded keeper to make it 1-0.
Honved had a dangerous corner on 42 minutes, which ended with Nego heading the ball off his own goaline. The second half began with a Lanzafame free kick, which Kovacsik again did well to save. The Budapest side were then reduced to 10 men after 62 minutes when defender Lovric was shown his second yellow of the afternoon.
Vidi were awarded a penalty after 75 minutes when visiting defender Bobal pulled down Lazovic inside the box. The referee pointed straight at the spot and Scepovic sent the resulting penalty cooly into the corner of the net 2-0. That was the forward's 10th goal of the season and he now leads the goal scoring table.
A quick counter attack 3 minutes later ended with Scepovic having the ball at his feet in front of the Honved goal. He attempted to round keeper Grof, and the Serbian striker fell to the ground, but the match official awarded a free kick in the opposite direction. It proved a strange decision as the majority inside the stadium were expecting a penalty to be awarded.
The game was settled with 5 minutes remaining. Lazovic got hold of the ball and then ran into the box and calmly found the bottom left corner to make it 3-0. The win and 3 points helped Vidi return to the top of the OTP league table. Videoton are at home again next weekend when they take on DVTK.
