The big match of the weekend kicked off in nice summer conditions, with around 5000 inside the tight compact stadium in Debrecen. Volas Dalibor was in the home side's starting line-up, who Vidi have bad memories of, with the then Maribor striker scoring twice in the 2010 Europa league match, second leg tie, which finished 2-0. It was the visitors who were more active in the first 20 minutes, with the home keeper tested several times. Gyurcso had a good shot on goal from a tight angle in the 7th minute. It needed a smart save from Verpecz to deny the Vidi player. There was another good strike from Gyurcso four minutes later from 15 meters out, which went just wide of the near post.
Vidi's international winger had a goalscoring opportunity on 19 minutes, with a free kick taken from about 22 meters out, but it was saved by the Debrecen keeper. Toth got hold of the ball inside the middle of the opponents half, before releasing Kleinheisler who shot at goal from 25 meters out, flashing just wide of the post. The first chance for the home side arrived on the half hour. Kulcsar received the ball and struck a good shot at goal. Vidi had the better chances to take the lead in the opening half, but the scores were goaless at half time.
The second half started with a chance for Vidi, with Gomes starting a nice move, with a good ball to Nikolics, who shot at goal from 25 meters, but Verpecz was on hand to deal with it well. It was Vidi who took the lead on 51 minutes after Kleinheisler did well on the right to send in a low cross, which a defender scooped up into the air, but it fell kindly to Gyurcso, who shot from close range to make it 0-1.
The home team stepped things up after going a goal down. They found the reply quickly and were level after 59 minutes. Substitute Sidibe came on and he was well placed to steer the ball home to make it 1-1. Szolnoki was involved in a tussle for the ball on 78 minutes, which was virtually close to the corner flag. The Debrecen player fouled Vidi's right back, but the match official surprisingly ruled against the Vidi player. The resulting free kick was headed on by Szolnoki, with the ball arriving at the feet of Volas to stab it in to score the winning goal.
There were no more changes in the remaining minutes of the game, and the 12 year record of a Videoton side not having won in Debrecen continues. It is a stadium, which Vidi will most probably never play in again, with the next league match between the two being played in the nice modern new stadium, which is currently being built close by.
