Vidi looking for their 50th NB I win over Ujpest

It will be match 28 of the current OTP league season on Saturday afternoon for MOL Fehervar FC. The game against Ujpest FC will be played at the MOL Arena Sosto. We take a look back at games from the past involving the two clubs.

Matches in numbers:

There have been 113 games over the years with Ujpest enjoying a serious advantage in games from the 1970's. Vidi would go on in later years to catch up and record several wins over the Budapest club. The red and blues have won 49 matches over the lilacs. There have been 24 drawn games and 40 defeats. Vidi also enjoy a better overall record in goal difference with 177 goals being scored and 163 going in at the other end.

Saturday's game will be the 58th when Vidi are the host team. We have managed to win 28, draw 16 and lost 13 in matches so far. That has produced a goal difference in our favour of 105-73. 

Laszlo Karsai has been the most successful player when it comes to games against Ujpest. He scored 7 times in matches against them over the years. Istvan Salloi and Nemanja Nikolic have each managed a goal less. 

The first league game:
The teams first met back on the 20th June 1968 at the Sosto Stadium. Ujpest Dozsa, as they were then known, went on to finish in second place and won the game 6-2. Vidi's goal that day came from Laszlo Karsai and Laszlo Bodnar. 

First Vidi win:
The first four league matches between the two saw Ujpest emerge with a 6-22 goal difference advantage. However, things would be different in the fifth game. That came in match 10 of the 1970/71 season when goals from Tibor Wollek and Laszlo Csukovics helped Vidi to a 2-1 home win. 

The biggest win:
That came in season 2001/2002 in match 37 when we beat Ujpest 5-0 in a game in Szekesfehervar. Vidi most recently repeated that scoreline in January 2021, when we won 5-0 in Ujpest. 

League match with the most goals:
That was back in the 1977/1978 season in match 12 when 10 goals were shared. The match was played on the 16th November 1977 at the Sosto. The end result was 6-4 to Vidi with goals that day coming from Laszlo Tiber (3), Jozsef Kovacs, Gyozo Burcsa and Jozsef Szabo.

	Roland Juhasz scored the only goal of the game against Ujpest back in 2018. That match was the first ever league game at Vidi's new MOL Arena Sosto.
