The squad flew off to Bulgaria on Tuesday morning for the CL Q2, 1st leg qualifier.
The team bus rolled out of the Sostoi at 7am on Tuesday morning. The squad arrived at the airport in Budapest at 8:15am for their flight to Bulgaria. The plane took off at 9:30am on route to Varna airport and is due to land at around 1pm.
Vidi will be staying in between Varna and Razgrad in a town called Sumen. It is not the first time that coach Tamas Szalai is travelling to Bulgaria as part of the Vidi squad. Back in 2003 he was part of the group that went to Dupnitsa for the UEFA Intertoto Cup match between PFC Marek Duptnita and Videoton FCF.
It is interesting to note that just as now, the return leg was not played in Szekesfehervar due to reconstruction work at the Sostoi stadium. The game was played in Dunaujvaros and although Vidi took the lead through goals from Koczian and Foldes, the visitors managed to come back to 2-2 and extra time saw a further goal for the Bulgarian side to go through 5-4 on aggregate.
Manager Marko Nikolic and Danko Lazovic also have memories of Bulgaria and Wednesday's opponents Ludogorets. In 2014, they featured in the CL Q3 game for Partizan against then. Marko Nikolic was the manager of Partizan and Lazovic played in both matches. The first game in Bulgaria ended in a 0-0 draw and the second leg in Belgrade ended 2-2. That meant the Bulgarian side went through on the away goals rule.
