Marko Nikolic: I congratulate my players who battled hard

The two managers shared their thoughts on Wednesday's first leg match.

Marko Nikolic: "Good evening everybody now that you are all here in the media room. Yesterday nobody came to the training session. We wanted to do our best. We knew about the qualities of Ludogorets and that they have very good players in each position with experience of the group stage. I want to congratulate my players who battled so much from the first minute. They tried to carry out what I asked of them. Sadly we could not get an away goal and we needed to be fresher and make better decisions in the attacking third. The return leg will take place seven days time in Hungary and we need to win. Perhaps a 0-0 would be good but any other result would favour Ludogorets. I want to thank those supporters that came out to back the team. We did not play for the draw and wanted to win. It is fact that you have to really organise your sides game against a side of the level of Ludogorets. They have very good and fast players. I would have been pleased with a goal but it did not happen. I still feel that the players performed well.

Paolo Autuori: "Our defending was fine and I was satisfied that we were well organised at the back. Vidi picked up 11 yellow cards in their last two games and you could see today that they wanted to break the game up. We did not see real football from them. The game stopped several times in the second half. This often affects the side that in the advance. We still had more chances than our opponents but could not score. We will be going to Hungary to score goals and win."
