Videoton reclaim top three spot with a confident win

Videoton recorded a good away win at the newly opened Pancho Arena in Felcsut on Saturday afternoon. The first ever league game held at the smart new 4,000 seater stadium, saw Puskas Academy host Vidi. Ferencvaros beat Kaposvar on Friday night, which squeezed the red and blues down to fourth place, but this good win saw Videoton reclaim a top three spot.

It was noticeable that Vidi were playing with more freedom than in recent weeks. Nikolics had the first goalscoring chance of the game after 3 minutes. However, the alert Szekeres slid in at the right time to stop the Vidi forward from hitting the target. Niko had another chance three minutes later, when he beat Szekeres, before lifting the ball towards goal from a tight angle, with Vaszicsku heading the ball behind for a corner from close to the goal line.

Haraszti showed good skill on 19 minutes to trick the defender, before curling the ball into the middle from where Nikolics tried with a scissor kick. The ball struck the hand of Szelesi with referee Kassai pointing straight at the spot. Niko confidently converted the penalty to give Videoton the lead. (0-1).

Alvarez shot at goal after 25 minutes from 20 meters out, with the ball going just over the bar.  Czvitkovics then tested keeper Calatayud shortly after, with his long range shot being saved for a corner, with the ball heading towards the net. The resulting break away resulted with Haraszti having a good chance, as he grounded keeper Hajduch with his skill, but defender Szekeres managed to get back to clear the ball off the line. 

Puskas Academy manager Miklos Benczes made two changes at half time, which gave the home side a bigger threat on the wings. The 63rd minute saw substitute Denkovic feed Tischler with a lovely ball, who levelled from close range. (1-1). The score was not level for too long as Vidi pressed forward in search of chances. Nildo's 75th minute corner was headed home by Zé Luis to make it 1-2.

The forward was foced to come off with an injury to his leg. Oliveira replaced him and scored Vidi's third goal with his first touch on 78 minutes. Nikolics received a good ball, and headed towards goal alone, before drawing keeper Hajduch towards him and from a 100% goalscoring chance, he unselfishly passed the ball to his left for Oliveira to calmly slip the ball home. (1-3). 

Nikolics who is competing at the top of the goalscoring table showed tremendous team play as he could have scored three goals but supplied his team mates with the chance to score. 

The score remained until the final whistle, with Vidi playing confident and bright football in the first ever NB1 league game at the lovely new Pancho Arena. Vidi are next in action on Tuesday afternoon with the second leg of the league cup semi-final against Debrecen. They lead 5-1 from the first leg.
