Vidi completed a 10-3 aggregate win over ZTE in the fourth round of the Hungarian cup
Videoton made it a two-legged win over second division side Zalaegerszeg on Saturday afternoon. Vidi went into the game with a 4-0 first leg win behind them. They added another six to take the aggregate score into double figures. The match kicked off on a difficult pitch and with the weather being around the -4c mark. The first chance arrived after 5 minutes, with Uros Nikolics being supplied with a lovely ball from Mitrovics, and the Serbian midfielder kept his cool to find the back of the net and give Vidi an early lead. Adam Gyurcso then found Vinicius with a good pass, after 8 minutes, with the defender having remained up following a corner, and he got in between two defenders to hit the ball with the outside right foot, which saw the ball go in off the post.
José Gomes' side had raced into a good 2-0 lead inside the first 10 minutes, and it looked as if they would go on to win the match by a high score. There was a further good chance after 11 minutes, with Haraszti seeing his shot go just over the bar. Pavicevic had the first chance for the home side after 18 minutes, when he headed from close range, which ended with the ball hitting the post, and Nanasi scoring from the rebound. The home side did not have too long to celebrate, as Kovacs fed Gyurcso with yet another good pass, and the right sided midfielder hit a powerful shot from a tight angle, which was bravely saved by ZTE keeper Jahic, but the rebound fell kindly to Uros Nikolics, who scored his second goal of the afternoon, to make it 3-1 to the red and blues. Gyurco tried his luck on 33 minutes, from around 17 meters out, while ZTE player Frizoni had a chance from a similar distance, two minutes later, but both chances failed to find the back of the net.
Videoton FC were reduced to ten men after 43 minutes, when referee Viktor Kassai judged that defender Szekeres brought down the last man inside the box. The young defender was sent off as a result, while ZTE were awarded a penalty kick. Pavicevic kept his nerve to find the back of the net to reduce the scoreline.
There were several fouls in the opening exchanges of the second half. This effected the continuity of the match, while there were also changes made to both sides, which had a further impact on the game. Zalaegereszeg managed to take advantage of playing with eleven men against ten. They levelled the score at 3-3, through Grbic, who made no mistake from about 7 meters out. Vidi went down the other end in search of further goals, and the fourth arrived ten minutes later. Kovacs did very well to play himself in, before scoring a great goal from a tight angle. Kovacs then played a hand in Vidi's fifth goal of the afternoon, setting up Oliveira, who did well to beat keeper Jahic, and roll the ball into the back of the empty net. Nemanja Nikolics came on as a substitute and he rounded things off with a goal in the 85th minute, which made the final score 6-3 to Vidi, taking the aggregate score to 10-3 and a place in the next round.
