Ivanovski gave Vidi the lead in the first half but Youla levelled for the home team in the second.
In sunny conditions and a temperature of 22c in Budapest on Saturday afternoon, Vidi were the visitors to a Honved side at the Bozsik stadium. There were several changes made by Joan Carrillo to the normal team with Ivanovski, Luijckx, Maréval, Fejes and Brachi all starting. It was the home side that began the more proactive, but they could not create a clear cut chance, with Purosevac hitting a weak shot after 5 minutes. Roland Juhasz unfortunately had to leave the pitch after 15 minutes due to an injury, with Chakla coming on in his place. Alvarez then hit a free kick on 16 minutes to the far post for the arriving Fejes to pass the ball back in to the middle, but the home defence were able to clear the danger. Fejes was again in the thick of the action a few moments later when his header went wide. Oliveira had a shot block after 18 minutes and then Alvarez saw his effort also blocked as the pressure mounted. The breakthrough came shortly: Alvarez curled a free kick in from the left in to the middle with Ivanovski sticking out his foot to convert the ball in to the back of the net. It was the Macedonian's first goal in the Hungarian first division for Vidi! (0-1).
A Kovacs cross on 26 minutes rebounded off a defender with Kemenes tipping the ball out from just under the bar. Ignjatovic shot wide a couple of minutes later from 30 meters, and shortly after Ivanovski flicked the ball on with the ball coming off Kovacs, with the midfielder scoring from close range. However, it was flagged offside and the score remained unchanged. Calatayud saved a shot from Hidi after 34 minutes, and Sandor then sent a shot wide a minute later from 25 meters out. The last talking point of the first half saw Alvarez hit a free kick towards goal, which almost caught the home keeper off guard, but the ball sailed just over. Vidi went in at the break with a goal advantage.
Brachi blasted a shot towards goal from a free kick at the start of the second half, which produced a good save from Kemenes in the home goal. Luijckx then tried his luck with a shot from 22 meters, but the keeper was again alert and dealt with it. Oliveira sent a nice ball in to the middle on 52 minutes, and Luijckx headed from 10 meters, but there was not enough power and the ball ended up in the hands of Kemenes.
Honved stepped things up as the game continued and found the equalizer after 69 minutes: Godoy hit a cross ball to Holender, who passed the ball out to the left and a first time ball in was converted home by Youla from close range to make it 1-1. Calatayud saved a header from Youla on 73 minutes, while Chakla tackled the ball off the goalscorer who was in with a chance.
Vidi then twice rode their luck after 7 minutes. The first saw Youla hit a low shot that came off the right hand post from 10 meters. The rebound fell to Barath who blasted his shot off the crossbar. The 84th minute saw Feczesin bring Kovacs in to play, who hit a shot from the left from 10 meters, which Kemenes saved.
Godoy had a shot that was well saved by the Spanish keeper moments later. The 3 minutes of injury time again saw Calatayud drawn in to action. He saved a close range free kick and then cleared the ball away. The visiting keeper then saved Holender's effort. There were no more goals and the points were shared at the Bozsik stadium. Vidi sit at the top of the table with 68 points.
Next up is Ferencvaros in the Hungarian cup final on Wednesday evening. The game will kick off at 20:00pm with Vidi looking to do the double.
