Videoton make it in to the semi-final of the league cup

Goals from Juhasz, Haraszti and Zé Luis gave Videoton a 3-0 second leg win.

Vidi entertained Pecs in the second leg of the league cup quarter final at the Sostoi on Wednesday. The first leg had ended in a 1-1 draw, with Videoton going into the return leg with a slight advantage of the away goal.

The action was mainly based in the visitors half from the first whistle, with Juhasz and then Vinicius both having headers, which went over the bar in promising situations. The Pecs keeper then saved well from an Oliveira shot. The home side then went into a 22nd minute lead: Kleinheisler found Oliveira along the right touchline and the wideman then sent in a very good cross, which was met by a powerful Juhasz header at the far post (1-0).

Vidi remained in the ascendency after taking the lead, although Pecs did come forward but without really creating a chance of note. Oliveira was seeing a lot of the ball and was causing problems for the Pecs defence. A Brachi free kick and a chance from Kleinheisler saw Vidi almost double their advantage. There was also a Juhasz header that went over the bar. Vidi went in to the break with a 1-0 lead.

Pecs started the second half creating chances, with Bailo breaking through on goal, racing past Brachi before shooting wide of the post. Wittredi then brought a smart save from Calatayud from a free kick, which ended with Calatayud punching out a Peric header. Videoton then began to put Pecs on the back foot, with Kleinheisler hitting a powerful shot from 33 meters out. Helesfay in the Pecs goal then saved from Paraiba, after a cross found here clear at the near post. Vidi doubled the lead on 72 minutes. Haraszti hit a strong low shot beyond the keepers reach and into the bottom corner of the net (2-0).

Vidi kept the majority of possession after their second goal. There was a Granitz shot, which kept Calatayud busy, but the game was made safe with a fine goal from Zé Luis, who outpaced his marker to run onto a return ball, before calmly rounding Helesfay to make it 3-0. Haraszti found the back of the net on 86 minutes, but his effort was flagged offside. Vidi recorded a confident 4-1 aggregate win over Pecs, and now face Debrecen in a two legged affair on April 22 and 29.
