Vidi picked up a confident win to make it 6-1 on aggregate in the semi-final of the league cup.
The second leg of the league cup semi-final saw Vidi kick off against Debrecen with a 5-1 first leg lead. The match was played at the Sostoi stadium with Videoton fielding a young side. In cloudy conditions, the match kicked off with the home side including Mate Papp, Tar, Lupeta and Paraiba with Tujvel behind them in goal. Debrecen also included several youngsters in their line up.
Loki had a chance early on with Seydi playing in Tisza, who shot from 8 meters out, but it required Tujvel to save the effort. There were chances in front of both goals as the game progressed. Lupeta found space between the Debrecen backline, before powering a shot that came back off the crossbar, and appeared to bounce behind the goaline, but the match officials did not give it.
Ferenczi had a chance for the visitors after 21 minutes. Once again Tujvel in the Vidi goal dealt well with the chance. Vinicius headed over from a Gyurcso free kick on 34 minutes, while 4 minutes later, Gyurcso went one better as he raced through to connect with a good Paraiba ball, before doing well to round the keeper to give Vidi the lead. (1-0). There was not too much action in the remaining minutes of the first period as both sides went into the break.
Vidi started the second half with a smart move, which saw Lupeta pass from the left towards Gyurcso, who fed Paraiba, who did well to step over the ball into the path of Kovacs, but he hesitated and the defender stepped in to clear. The save of the match came after 51 minutes. Tisza headed and Tujvel pulled off an excellent save. The linesman flagged for offside, but it was still a good save from the Vidi keeper.
Paraiba then found Kovacs in a good position on 58 minutes, and he shot with the outside of his right foot from 7 meters, but the ball came of Verpecz and hit the post before Oliveira shot over. Debrecen could have levelled after 70 minutes. Tisza sent an impressive shot, which hit the crossbar. Gyurcso came to live towards the end with a good cross and shot, while Kovacs also had a powerful shot, but there were no more goals in this second leg.
Vidi progress in to the final for the 5th time following the 5-1 aggregate win over Debrecen.
