A third minute goal by Andre Alves was not enough to secure a win

Videoton played their first key game of 2011, as Paksi FC visited the Sostoi stadium on Saturday. The League cup quarter final, first leg began well for Vidi. Alves was sent through on goal after just 3 minutes, and he cleverly lifted the ball over the Paks keeper, before showing some trickery to beat the defender on the goal line, to put Vidi 1-0 up. There was some typical Brazilian magic by Alves, which was enjoyed by the supporters inside the stadium, and on TV. Videoton continued to press and further the lead, but Paks themselves began to come more into the game. Vidi seemed to lack the killer instinct infront of goal, that has become their trademark in league games. Gyory Mezey changed things round to try and kill off the game, and give Vidi a good advantage to take into the second leg. The game proved to be useful and acted as a good match, to further build up fitness levels. Vidi will travel to Vasas next Sunday for their first league game of the spring season, eager for all three points.
