The views of the two managers

Gyorgy Mezey spoke shortly after the 1-0 Hungarian cup win at Kaposvar

Videoton picked up an important first leg advantage, away at Kaposvar on Wednesday evening. A first half goal from defender Zoltan Liptak was enough to split the two sides.

Gyorgy Mezey: "This was a typical cup match against Kaposvar. It wasn't  the most attractive game ever, but there was a battle out there on the pitch. A one goal advantage away from home, at a very well organised Kaposvar side is a good result. We have a real chance now to go through to the final. The most important aspect of today was for us to win and give oursleves a good chance of going through. That was more important that producing a great display of football on the pitch. Kaposvar are not in the top three in the league by accident. They fight for every ball, which is why they are doing so well. It was disappointing that Balazs Farkas was sent off twenty minutes after coming on as a substitute. That came at a bad time for him, as he needs as many games as possible to get back to full match fitness. I was pleased with the performance of Attila Polonkai, who missed a lengthy period recently through illness. I thought that he played really well today. I had planned on giving Andre Alves a half hour run out, and it was also nice to see Nikolics do well next to him. It gives me hope for the future."

"It was a pity that we came of the pitch having lost the match. We put a lot of energy into the cup match, and we tried to realise our dreams today. It appears as if we are now further away from those dreams than closer. Videoton are a really good side, and they are doing very well in the first division. They tried to do positive things despite having a man short towards the end of the match. We now have to move on from this game, and we will prepare for our next big match from tomorrow."
