The small team that is hard to beat

Vidi take on Siofok at the Sostoi at the weekend

The first game between the two sides was back on the 4th September 1985 at Siofok's compact ground, on the banks of lake Balaton. The two teams shared out a 1-1 draw on that Summer's day. Current second team coach Csucsanszky opened the score for Vidi, with Tieber Laszlo scoring to equalise for the yellow and blues. The legendary striker played 221 games for Vidi scoring 78 goals in the process. He also went on to play 15 games for Siofok, scoring 3 goals, with one of those coming against Videoton on that day!

The two clubs have met 34 times to date in the league, with Vidi winning 11, drawing 11 and losing 12 of those games. It is interesting to note that despite Siofok's better record overall, the goal count reads in Vidi's favour by 46-45. The red and blues have only been able to win 3 of the last 17 league games when they have travelled to the Balaton based side. The last success there happened 13 years ago, on the 2nd August 1997, when a goal by Vladas Urbonas was enough to give Vidi a 1-0 win. Zoltan Csucsansky has managed to score the most goals against Siofok to date, with a total of 4 goals finding the back of the yellow and blue net.

The two clubs last met at the Balaton sides stadium in August, in a match which ended in a 0-0 draw. The Sostoi stadium crowd will be hoping for more goals this Saturday!
