Ten out of ten - Two goal win at the home of Pecs

Nikolics matched the goalscoring feat of Gyozo Burcsa, while Joan Carrillo has now managed Vidi to a new club record!

Vidi prepared for their tenth win out of ten, while the home team went in to Saturday's match having won their last two away matches at Debrecen and Honved. Pecs were also looking for their first home win of the season.

The first 20 minutes saw both teams play with caution, with neither side wanting to gamble anything, and only a Nikolics header of note in the 7th minute. That header brought a good save out of keeper Poleksic. The Pecs goalkeeper went on to produce several good stops in the first half. The first was from a long range Gyurcso free kick, while he also reacted well to a shot from Nikolics, which saw him tip the ball from under the crossbar. The game turned on 38 minutes when Niko emerged the winner in the contest between the home keeper and him. The Vidi forward hit a terrific shot from 23 meters out to find the back of the net (0-1).

That goal propelled Nikolics to joint second in the all-time top goalscorers table for Videoton. It put him level with current Vidi club director Gyozo Burcsa. Calatayud was kept on his toes in the 43rd minute following a shot from Markvart. Gyurcso then sent a curling ball in to the box a minute later, which saw Nikolics arrive perfectly with a defender, and although it appeared that Niko had scored his second of the game, TV coverage showed that it did in fact come off the boot of defender Causic, who deflected the ball past his own keeper (0-2).

Home manager Gyorgy Veber made a change at the break, bringing on Gocze in place of keeper Poleksic. The second half was all about battles around the pitch, without any real goalscoring chances until the 83rd minute. Vidi confidently defended their two goal lead, while Pecs were stopped by the visiting defenders on the edge of the box. Wittredi and then Kovari tested Calatayud towards the end, but both brought out a good save from the Spanish keeper. There were chances right at the end from both Gyurcso and then Alvarez, but they did not end up in the back of the net. Videoton picked up a confident 2-0 win at the home of Pecs.

Paks lost at home to Kecskemet on Saturday afternoon, which now means that only Videoton have an unbeaten and 100% record in the first division after 10 league matches. Another new club record was also set. Vidi have never conceded so few goals after 10 matches. The record was 5 goals and was achieved in 1983 and 2005. Vidi have now let in just 3 goals in their first 10 league matches!
