Videoton surrendered their 100% home record to an enthusiastic Kecskemet side, who left the Sostoi stadium with all three points. A virtually full strength side could find no way past Nemeth, in the Kecskemet goal. Vidi began the match with Sandor and Elek in the middle of midfield, just as they had been for Hungary on Tuesday, in the 0-0 draw with Finland. Table toppers Debrecen beat second placed Győri ETO 2-0 earlier in the day, with Videoton looking to close the gap with ETO as a result. The red and blues slipped to fifth in the table, with both Diosgyőr and Honved picking up points. Andre Alves celebrated his 28th birthday, but he failed to cap the day off with a goal. Sandor had the first chance on goal, following good build up play from Alves and Evandro. The midfielder saw his shot go over the bar, with the home team taking the match to the visitors. The match was fairly even at this stage with no sign of things to come.

Alves and Sandor played a one-two on the edge of the area, with the latter again failing to find the target. Bertus became the first player to enter the referee's book after 19 minutes, for a challenge on Elek. Walter was showing some trickery on the left but the final ball often failed to find it's intended target. The 39th minuted saw Brachi hit a free kick straight into the arms of Nemeth. Bertus then hit a shot way over the bar on 41 minutes, with the first half ending with neither side failing to break the deadlock.

Gosztonyi went down in the penalty area on 79 minutes, but the referee waved away the protests from the home players. KTE held out to keep their two goal advantage and move up to sixth in the OTP league table, a place just behind Videoton, who now face two tough away matches against Győri ETO next Sunday, and Papa a week later.
