Vidi created several chances in the game but the home side ended up scoring goals at the beginning and end of the match.
The two sides had only once met at the home of Mezokovesd and that was back in May 2014. That game ended in a 1-1 draw. There were good conditions on Saturday afternoon with the sun shining down for this OTP league game.
Vidi started the match well and the 5th minute saw Scepovics with a chance, but he chose to pass when well placed to shoot. A home defender got hold of the ball and cleared the danger. Lazovics supplied Scepovics with a fine ball a minute later, and his shot at goal from 7 meters, which brought out a very good save from Tujvel in the home goal. Another minute passed by and again Vidi's former keeper pulled off a smart stop to deny Lazovics following a free kick.
It was the home side that ended up taking the lead with a goal out of the blue. There were 9 minutes on the clock when a ball from the right was headed home by Kink who found the back of the net (1-0). Mezokovesd had another chance in front of the visiting goal. Another dangerous cross missed everyone and went out eventually.
Lazovics again picked out Scepovics with a lovely ball after 27 minutes, and the Serbian forward took the ball forward and calmly slipped the ball past Tujvel from 15 meters to make it 1-1. Lazovics did well with his defence splitting ball and Scepovics made no mistake when well placed. There was a very big chance for the home side when a shot from Molnar required a very good save from Kovacsik. The final action of the first half resulted in a curling 28 meters shot from a Lazovics free kick, but it did not create too many problems for Tujvel in the home goal.
The second half started with a chance for the home team. Szeles shot from 18 meters with his left foot and it went just wide of the post. The 52nd minute saw a lovely Videoton move: Lazovics backheeled into the path of Feczesin, who sent his effort inches wide of the top left corner. Diallo then found himself with a big chance as he ran alone on goal, before powerfully shooting and bringing out a very good save from Kovacsik from close range.
The game continued with both sides having chances. Scepovics shot well from a tight angle on 62 minutes, which again was well dealt with by Tujvel. Kovacsik was required at the other end moments later. Substitute Geresi sent an 82nd minute cross into the goal mouth but the defender cleared just ahead of Scepovics for a corner. Tujvel punched the resulting corner away as the minutes ticked by. It appeared that a 1-1 draw would be the final result but there was still time for a winning goal. With 87 minutes on the clock, Strestik was through on goal from a tight angle and the experienced players picked out the far corner to make it 2-1.
Vidi tried hard for a leveller in the minutes that remained but they could not find a way past Tujvel. Videoton are next in action next Saturday when MTK are the visitors to Felcsut.
