Puskas Academy win 2-1 in the county derby

Puskas picked up the three points at the Pancho Arena on Saturday evening.

It was back to OTP league action on Saturday for MOL Vidi FC. The international break meant that Vidi had not been in league action for a couple of weeks. Marko Nikolic' side were the away team against bottom of the table Puskas Academy FC, who had collected 2 points from their opening 7 games.

New signings Armin Hodzic and Georgi Milanov took their place on the subs bench following their arrivals recently. Attila Fiola was also rested following the international matches for Hungary. Puskas manager Miklos Benczes included recent signing from Vidi Jozsef Varga in his starting eleven, while former Vidi keeper Branislav Danilovic took his place in the home goal.

The game was fairly balanced in the opening minutes with hardly a chance on either goal. Vidi in their white kit had the first chance after 20 minutes. Istvan Kovacs shot at goal from close range after dribbling past several players, but Danilovic got down well to save. Vidi were awarded a penalty after 23 minutes after Lazovic sent a ball towards Scepovic, with defender Heris fouling the Serbian forward and the referee pointed to the spot. The resulting penalty was converted by Scepovic to make it 0-1.

Puskas came more into the game with Kiss coming up against Juhasz, who shot powerfully into the side netting. Arabuli found the ball with his head after 38 minutes ahead of Kovacsik, and Vinicius poked his leg out ahead of the home player with the ball coming off the post, but referee Szots awarded the second penalty of the game, which Knezevic scored from to make it 1-1.

There were no more goals in the opening period with the teams going in to the dressing room with the score at 1-1. Bryan de Jesus came on for his debut for Puskas in place of Arabuli. Stopira headed at goal following a Huszti cross, before Nego volleyed a low ball across the face of goal, which Scepovic just failed to connect with. There was a debut for the visiting side as well after 57 minutes. Bulgarian Georgi Milanov replaced Patkai. Vidi almost took the lead when Nego's ball in was cleared by Heris towards Milanov, who took the ball down with his right, before hitting a lovely volley with his left, which came back of the bar with Danilovic unable to react.

Stopira had another chance with his head after 67 minutes, which went wide. There were chances for Kiss and Mioc for the home side in the minutes that followed, while Huszti came off for Nikolov. Play stopped after 71 minutes following a serious looking injury to keeper Kovacsik. Nikolov passed towards Vinicius, but Trajkovski was quick to react and his chance was blocked by Kovacsik, who remained on the floor following the challenge. Lengthy treatment followed on the pitch before he was stretchered off and replaced by Tujvel.

Mioc had a clear run at goal after 83 minutes, but Tujvel pulled off a reflex save shortly after coming on. However, he could do nothing to stop a low powerful de Jesus shot go past him to make it 2-1 to Puskas shortly after.

The pressure remained on the home goal with several crosses going into the box, but the defenders managed to clear the danger. The 9 minutes of extra time ended with a corner to Vidi that Heris connected with his hand and the referee pointed at the spot for the third time in the game. Scepovic saw his shot towards the bottom left saved by Danilovic.

The score remained 2-1 and Puskas Academy collected the points.
