One step closer towards the dream

Videoton make the journey south on Tuesday to play third in the table Paks.

Tues 26th April
Haladas - Ujpest
Papa - Győri ETO
Kecskemet - Honved
Paks - Videoton

Wed 27th April
Szolnok - Vasas
Kaposvar - FTC
ZTE - Siofok
Debrecen - MTK

Saturday's 4-0 home win over Lombard Papa gave Videoton a lead of 12 points in the Monicomp League table. Paks, Kaposvar and ZTE all slipped up at the weekend, with only Ferencvaros managing to win 3-1 away at relegation threatened MTK. The task is now simple: Videoton need to pick up maximum points at third in the table Paks, on Tuesday, and hope that the others fail to win elsewhere. Vidi may not be able to celebrate just yet, even if all goes the red and blues way, with Friday's home game against Kecskemet, ending in a potential party atmosphere! There is a full list of fixtures over both Tuesday and Wednesday, with battles at both ends of the league table taking place. Haladas have a big home game with Ujpest, as both attempt to secure first division status for next season. Both sides are currently on 30 points, and a win for either side may be enough to take the pressure off for the remainder of the campaign. Szolnok, who occupy bottom spot, could be relegated during the week, with either MTK and Siofok joining them. Szolnok are six points adrift at the foot, with 18 points left to play for. The top four sides face each other with Vidi taking on Paks, and Ferencvaros making the long journey to Kaposvar.

Debrecen 24 37

Ferencvaors will be hoping to qualify for European football in the summer following a rocky ride recently. The green and whiltes managed to win 1-0 at the Albert stadium, Budapest in the corresponding fixture in the autumn season, with former Kaposvar manager Laszlo Prukner, hoping for a win for the green and whites. The ZTE v Siofok match is sure to be exciting, with a draw no good for either side. Janos Csank's ZTE have had an awful week conceding nine goals in two games, which has seen his side drop out of the top three. Debrecen will be motivated to beat MTK at home, following their 5-1 away win at Vasas on Sunday. A win for the champions could see them getting into the top three, which would mean Europa league football for them. Gyorgy Mezey's side are very close to achieving the dream of Videoton winning the league title for the very first time. It would be no more than what the club and owner Istvan Garancsi deserve, following an eventful three years, which began with the rescue of the club from near bankruptcy to potential league winners, and champions league football in the summer.
