Vidi went down 1-0 away at Ujpest on Sunday evening
Gyorgy Mezey's three and a half year reign as Videoton manager came to an end at Ujpest on Sunday. A first half strike from Ahjupera was enough to split the sides in the end, as Vidi wrapped up a great year.

Ujpest ended the season as the form side, picking up another three points to end in sixth place in the Monicomp league. The violets finished five places behind Gyorgy Mezey's Videoton side, who clinched the league title for the first time in the clubs history. Videoton should have gone ahead early on through an Alves shot, but the shot stuck in the muddy goal mouth, following a torrential downpour an hour before the kick off. Vidi lined up with ex Ujpest players, Sandor, Liptak, Vasko and Farkas in their starting eleven. Both sides had little to play for, with Vidi hoping to give manager Gyorgy Mezey the perfect send off. However, it was not to be as Alves and Nikolic found it hard to get through an Ujpest defence, and when they did, they found keeper Horvath in good form.

Ujpest went ahead midway through the first half when Ahjupera had time to bring a ball down and shoot past the helpless Bozsovics. The red and blues tried to get back into the match with Sandor doing well in the centre of midfield. Nagy was causing problems down the left, while Liptak went on a memorable forward run, until he was stopped by the home defence. Ujpest manager Geza Meszoly then switched to a more defensive formation after the break, hoping that his side would be able to defend their single load lead. Vidi continued to threaten, but it was not to be their evening, as the hosts held out for the full ninety minutes.
The three points for the violets lifted them into sixth place in the league table, while Videoton ended the monicomp league season with a five points lead over second place Paks. Ferencvaros claimed the final Europa league place, with their 3-0 home win over Lombard Papa, at the expense of Debrecen, whose home defeat to Haladas saw them slip to fifth, one place behind fourth team ZTE.
