Vidi created several chances but it was Vasas who converted the two real chances that came their way.
Vasas were the visitors at the Pancho Arena on Sunday evening in week 3 of the OTP league season. The Budapest side have made a very good start to the new campaign, having beaten Debrecen and MTK. Director of Football, Zoltan Kovacs presented Roland Szolnoki with a shirt in recognition of his 100th league appearance in the colours of Vidi.
The game kicked off with both sides trying to gain the upper hand. There were no real chances on goal in the first 30 minutes. Vidi had more of the ball and tried hard to create a breakthrough, but they found the visiting defence hard to get through in the opening half hour. Lazovic found Szolnoki with a good ball on 30 minutes, who following neat dribbling got himself in with a chance on goal, and his shot produced a good save from visiting keeper Polekszics. Feczesin then got hold of the ball 8 minutes later, before turning and running at goal, but his shot from 16 meters failed to test the keeper and the score remained deadlock. Remili sent a free kick into the hands of Kovacsik in the last minute of the first half.
There were changes made by both managers at half time. Barczi was replaced by Suljic for the home team. The first chance of the second half fell to Vasas. Remili saw his shot bounce in front of Kovacsik, with the keeper managing to get down to save. A corner from Bodi on 50 minutes found Simon in the middle, who headed at goal from close range. That brought out a good save from the Vasas keeper and Stopira could not convert the rebound.
The action continued, but Vidi were forced into a substitution with Suljic having to come off after only coming on himself at the break. He was replaced by Geresi. Bodi controlled the ball after 62 minutes inside the box, and he shot first time at goal, but again found Polekszics well placed to save. Remili then got himself in with a good chance at the other end a minute later. However, his effort did not give Kovacsik too much trouble as the Vidi keeper saved. Another 5 minutes passed before Lazovic played Bodi in with a lovely ball, but his shot did not have enough strength and the keeper collected without any problems.
It was Vasas who found themselves ahead after 70 minutes. Martin Adam curled a ball in front of goal from the left, and Korcsmar rose unchallenged to head home from close range (0-1). The visitors then doubled their lead ten minutes later. A free kick from the right went towards the far post, and Pavlov did well from almost the goal line to connect with the ball and make it 0-2.
Ristevski shot at goal following a corner to Vasas in injury time. Kovacsik did well to deny him with a smart save. Bodi got himself in with a good chance at the other end as the action continued, but again the Vasas keeper reacted well to keep it out. Vidi grabbed a consolation goal on 94 minutes: A corner from Bodi was headed home from close range by Vinicius to make the final score 1-2.
Videoton return to Europa League action in Denmark next week. They face FC Midtjylland on Thursday in the second leg. Week 4 of the OTP league sees Vidi head west to play Gyirmot.
