Match Report: Two goal win at the home of Paks

Goals from Futacs and Petryak secured a 2-0 win away at Paks on Saturday evening.

The fourth match of the OTP league season saw Vidi make the visit to the home of Paksi FC on Saturday evening. A slight muscle strain in the final training session of the week meant that Mate Patkai could not play in the game. Roland Juhasz took his place on the subs bench with Loic Nego taking over the captain's armband. The away sector was almost full with the red and blue supporters at the Paksi stadium.

A dangerous corner from the home side and a long distance strike from Hodzic kicked off the game. There were 5 minutes played when Petryak laid the ball back into the path of Hadzic, whose volley from 23 meters ended up going just wide. Bode tried his luck at the other end but it did not find the target. Vidi were seeing plenty of the ball and Futacs turned his defender after 20 minutes before shooting from a tight angle into the side netting.

The forward made no mistake four minutes later after running onto a lovely through ball from Nikolov to flick the ball with the outside of his left foot and into the bottom of the net (0-1). It was Futacs' fourth consecutive match that the forward had scored and he now made it number 5!

There were five minutes left of the first half when Petryak showed good skill before finding Hodzic with a pass, who sent his shot over the bar from 17 meters. The home side tried to come back into the game in the remaining 5 minutes of the first half. Bartha twice had chances with the first going over the bar and the second being bravely saved by keeper Kovacsik. That meant the Fehervar side going in at the break with a one goal lead.

It was Paks that started the second half the more actively, but Vidi closed down their defence to deny the home side any real chance on goal. At the same time there were some rough challenges coming in from the green and whites and that meant treatment was needed on more than one occasion for a man in a white shirt. It was the first NB I match at the age of 27 for the match official and he was not shy to show the yellow card several times during the game.

Vidi extended their lead after 62 minutes: Petryak linked up well with Futacs, which ended with the Ukrainian finding the back of the net from 6 meters to make it 0-2. It was also Ivan Petryak's first goal for Vidi since joining the club in the summer.

Kovacsik was then required to produce some good saves in the minutes that followed. His performance was of international quality as he denied Paks and ended up keeping a clean sheet. Bartha had his shot tipped over the bar acrobatically. Then Hahn saw his close range effort saved well. A powerful close range header from Bode was also tipped over the bar. Holcszer in the other goal also had to work hard to first deny Kovacs with a save to his left, before Futacs had a strong shot also saved.

Adam Kovacsik also denied Remili after he flicked the ball on from close range close to the end. Milanov had a shot that was collected by Holczer in what was the final chance of the game with Vidi winning 2-0. MOL Fehervar FC continue their excellent 100% record in the league with four wins from four. They remain top ahead of Mezokovesd who also have a 100% record. Kisvarda visit the MOL Arena Sosto next weekend.
