Nikolics scored his 100th first division goal as Vidi continued their perfect start to the season.
Videoton visited Nyiregyhaza for the first time in five years in a league match. There were around 200 Vidi supporters who made the trip east. The home team's supporters did not turn out in the numbers expected with around 2500 of them inside the stadium at the time referee Solymosi blew his whistle to kick off.
Gyurcso made the home keeper work after just 2 minutes on the clock, with keeper Balogh, who along with Gyurcso had spent part of the week with the national team in their two-day get together, dealing with the wingers effort. Nyiregyhaza almost went ahead a minute later: Rezes crossed from the left, with the ball falling to Szecsi, but Vinicius did really well to clear the danger with the home player about to shoot from close range.
Rezes then dived inside the Vidi box after 5 minutes, but the match official rightfully booked the home player. Vidi went ahead on 9 minutes after Nikolics played a smart one-two with Kovacs, who ended up curling a lovely shot into the top left corner of the net to make it 0-1.
A cross from the right after 20 minutes saw Bajzat about to square up to the ball, but Szolnoki did well to head the ball away. The 35th minute was notable when Nikolics fed Sandor with a good ball, with the latter curling a low ball towards the left corner of the goal from 15 meters out, but Balogh produced a good save to deny the midfielder. Kovacs passed to Nikolics after 38 minutes, who shot over the bar from close range. Niko found himself with another chance just two minutes later, cleverly lifting the ball over the keeper from 15 meters, but his shot bounced back off the bar.
There were no changes by either manager at half time. There was also nothing of note in the second half until the 57th minute, when Keeper Janos Balogh fouled Vinicius inside the box, and the referee pointed directly at the spot. Nikolics stood behind the ball, but his powerful kick went over the bar. The home team's manager Jozsef Csabi was sent to the stands for protesting.
There were plenty of battles going on around the pitch in the minutes that followed, although there were no real chances on goal. Videoton increased their lead and secured the match with the second after 78 minutes. A quick counter attack ended with Simon doing well to lay the ball in to the path of Nikolics inside the box, and the forward calmly found the corner of the net to score his 100th first division goal. (0-2).
There were no further goals with Vidi comfortably emerging as winners to retain their 100% start to the new league season.
