Match Report: A 1-1 draw against Paks

Both goals came in the first half as the two sides shared a point each.

There was a humid warm feeling to the second league game of the new 2018-19 season on Saturday evening. The opponents were Paksi FC who had to do without their manager, Aurel Csertoi who was banned and had to watch from the sidelines. His assistant was former Vidi player Zoltan Nemeth stood in for him.

Marko Nikolic made changes to the side that played away in Ludogorets during the week: Danko Lazovic came in together with Krisztian Tamas, Mate Patkai and Stefan Scepovic. Paulo Vinicius, Stopira, Marko Scepovic and Szabolcs Huszti took their places on the bench. Paks had former Vidi trio Zsolt Gevay, Zsolt Haraszti and Adam Simon in their starting line-up.

There were no real chances in the opening 15-20 minutes with the first chance of the game coming for Paks. Szabo laid the ball to Haraszti on 20 minutes, who then tried to pass to Bartha inside the box, but he saw his effort go wide of the far post.

Paks took the lead a minute later when Szabo sent in a high ball from the left, which Kovacsik could not collect, and Simon was on hand to roll the ball into the back of the net (0-1).

Vidi could have levelled straight away when Kovacs sent in a ball from the right, which Stefan connected with, but Nagy in the visiting goal pulled off a good safe. The leveller arrived after 28 minutes: Tamas hit a left foot shot that came off Adam Simon and went into his own net (1-1).

There was a yellow card show to Lenzser after 30 minutes for his foul on Lazovic. There was little action in the minutes that remained of the first period. The two sides went in at the break with the score at 1-1.

There were no changes for either side at half time with the same 22 players running out at the start of the second half. Istvan Kovacs was shown a yellow card after 50 minutes, but the same player then played in Patkai moments later, but the latter just failed to get on the end of the ball. Patkai had a shot from 20 meters that did not hit the target as the minutes rolled by. Simon and Kulcsar both had yellow cards shown at them by referee Solymosi on 56 minutes.

The first change of the game came on 63 minutes. Hahn replaced Bartha. With 67 minutes on the clock, Stefan turned at goal and hit a shot from 18 meters. There were two changes made by Marko Nikolic with Stefan being replaced by Marko Nikolic and Nikolov coming off for Huszti.

The game seemed to be heading for a draw at the Pancho Arena in Felcsut. With 84 minutes played, former Vidi player Haraszti shot from 15 meters into the hands of Kovacsik. Haraszti would eventually be replaced by Vagi in the 92nd minute.

The 6 minutes of injury time did not produce a further goal but there was a shot that went over the bar from Huszti in the dying minutes. The referee blew for full time and the score was 1-1 to take Vidi to 4 points in the OTP league table.
