Vidi picked up a 2-0 win away at Kisvarda to close 2019 with three points.
The team were in action in the final league game of the year on Saturday evening at Kisvarda. Manager Joan Carrillo picked the following eleven for the game: Kovácsik - Rus, Juhász, Musliu, Stopira - Nego, Elek, Pátkai - Kovács, Petryak - Futács. The home side had former Vidi players Zoldesi and Gosztonyi in their side for the match that kicked off at 17:00pm.
The home team started well and they had the ball in the back of the net after two minutes. Grozav took a corner, which was headed at goal by Kovacsreti with Cukalasz pocking the ball home on the goal line but the assistant flagged for offside. Kovacs found Futacs with a lovely ball on 6 minutes and the forward ran towards goal and he lifted the ball over Zoldesi but beyond the far post.
Roughly ten minutes later and there was a good chance for Petryak but his shot was saved well by Zoldesi. Petryak again tried his luck after 23 minutes as he curled a shot at goal but it went the wrong side of the post. The home side were the more active in the minutes that followed and they also had more of the ball. However, it was Vidi who went ahead close to half time. With 42 minutes played, Patkai took a quick free kick and Stopira sent a ball in from the left, which Futacs would have met but defender Rubus stuck his leg out to score an own goal and make it 0-1.
That meant that Vidi went in at the break leading by a single goal.
The second half continued where the first half had ended. Kovacs showed good skill down the right after 48 minutes before crossing the ball in to the centre for Patkai to rise and head home (0-2).
Grozav took a corner after 60 minutes, which was met by the head of Tischler, but it went over the bar. The former Vidi forward replaced the former Vidi winger Gosztonyi at the break. The second period was 8 minutes old when Rus shot at goal from 13 meters but the effort brought a good save out of Zoldesi in the bottom right corner. A Petryak corner was followed by Stopira heading just wide of the goal. The visiting team continued to attack and go forward and a low cross from Stopira after 74 minutes was met by Nego, whose shot from 11 meters just missed the target.
Kisvarda had the ball in the back of the net again after 79 minutes. However, it was once again flagged for offside and Tischler's goal did not stand. The home teams forward could have scored a legitimate goal a minute later, but the cross from the right was did not find a clean connection and it did not provide Kovacsik with too many problems in the visiting goal. Zoldesi saved from Nego from 14 meters at the other end. Elek sent a lovely shot from 35 meters onto the crossbar with 5 minutes remaining and it really was a fine effort from the midfielder.
Rus committed a foul with three minutes remaining about 20 meters from our goal. Grozav took the resulting free kick but Kovacsik did well to save. Defender Attila Fiola had missed 4 months but he came on for the final minute in place of Musliu. There was no change to the scoreline and Vidi came away from Kisvarda with a good 2-0 win.
That brought 2019 to an end for Vidi and the short break will be followed by the winter training camp. The first game will be in the OTP league against Honved on the 25th January at the MOL Arena Sosto.
