Marko Nikolic: We need to be strong at times like this

The two managers spoke to the media following Saturday's final whistle.

Marko Nikolic:

It is clear that we are currently in a difficult period. We have had a dream one and a half years playing very big games, so I have a slight feeling inside me that things are now evening up. We have not had any luck last week or in today's game. We created chances and today we had more than last week. We should have won the game based on this. However, this is the period that we are in and anyone that has been in football for a long time knows that there are periods like this. I cannot say anything bad about the team and their attitude. They all fought and each of them wanted to win. When the wins come, we all pat our backs so you need to remain strong at times like this. We need to start collecting the points.

Fernando Fernández:

When you play against such a strong side as Vidi, who have very good players and are fighting targets, you need three things to get a win as I said before the game. You need to have an effective attacking game, the opponents need to have a poor day and you also need luck. We had all of these today to pick up the three points. We conceded a goal last week when we were playing our best football, but we did not fall apart. The opponents again took the lead today but we remained calm and played as we had prepared. This means that we are mentally strong. Vidi had chances and they could have scored another goal, but the same applied to us. The most important is that we have belief and I have faith in the players, the work and we were also fortunate with the penalty. We came from behind and I congratulate my team because of this. We have been performing well for weeks now and now the results are coming. The wins brings confidence. We are starting to get to where we want to. The team is playing with organisation. Sometimes we are weaker and sometimes stronger. I thank the supporters who followed us so far away from home for their backing.
