Goals from Stopira, Kovacs and Nikolov earned MOL Fehervar FC a 3-1 win on Saturday evening.
Joan Carrillo took his place on the Vidi bench after a period of 1645 days at the home of DVTK on Saturday. The Spanish coach faced DVTK three times during that 2014-2015 season and all three were won by a 2-1 scoreline. Carrillo named the following side for this game: Kovácsik - Nego, Juhász, Musliu, Stopira - Hadzic, Nikolov - Kovács, Pátkai, Petryak - Futács.
First half - Stopira and Kovács give Vidi a 2-1 half time lead
The game started well and Vidi took the lead after 6 minutes: Nikolov took a corner which Musliu flicked on, but home keeper Danilovic did really well to save, but the rebound fell nicely to Stopira who headed into the empty net (0-1).
Hasani tried his luck few minutes later but his shot from 20 meters went wide of the goal. The game was 31 minutes old when Nikolov sent a shot from 16 meters wide of the home goal. Patrik Bacsa took advantage of a defensive error to level for DVTK from close range after 42 minutes (1-1).
There was still time inside the dying minutes of the first half for Vidi to restore their lead. Kovacs gained possession and ran before shooting with the outside of his foot from 14 meters to make it 1-2. It was a typical Kovacs goal that earned him enthusiastic applause from the visiting Fehervar supporters.
Second half - home team hits the post + a Vidi goal = comfortable Vidi win
The second half started with the ball mainly in the middle of the pitch and without a chance on either goal. Hasani tried with a long range shot after 57 minutes, which did not cause too many problems for Kovacsik in the visiting goal. DVTK came close to levelling after 63 minutes: Prosser shot powerfully from 20 meters, which hit the crossbar, before Bacsa hit the rebound wide of the post.
Hasani again made Kovacsik work moments later, but Kovacsik comfortably dealt with his low shot. The home side saw more of the ball in the second half and had more chances.
Kovacsik saved a shot from Shestakov after 82 minutes before Vidi went down the other end to make the game safe four minutes later. Kovacs found Nikolov with a good ball, who did well to trick his marker before aiming for the far corner with a low shot to make it 1-3. There was no change to the scoreline and MOL Fehervar FC came away from DVTK with all 3 points.
The team are next in action in the Hungarian Cup on Tuesday evening away at Szeged.
