Hungarian Cup: 3-0 away win at Tiszaujvaros

Hodzic opened up the scoring with two more from Futacs to ease Vidi into the next round.

The Hungarian Cup Round 7 saw a trip to NB III side Tiszaujvaros. The match on Wednesday kicked off at 12:30pm and the following side started the game: Kovács Dániel – Nego, Rus, Musliu, Stopira – Pátkai, Elek, Milanov – Funsho, Futács, Hodzic. Stopira wore the captains armband for the tie.

Burics brought out a good save after 5 minutes from keeper Kovacs from 25 meters. The resulting corner saw the ball fall to Pap who had a good chance but his shot went wide of the visiting goal. It was Vidi that had more of the ball as was expected in the opening half hour. However, Tiszaujvaros keeper Peter Herceg did not have too much work to do. There was  chance for Vidi after 36 minutes when a Milanov free kick found its way to the head of Rus and his header was palmed away. Two minutes later and a cross from the right from Nego was headed over the goal by Akos Elek. The breakthrough arrived after 39 minutes: Milanov fed Hodzic with the ball and the forward curled the ball home to make it 0-1 from 20 meters.

Two minutes later and Patkai, who returned to the side following injury, tried his luck from 18 meters, but it went wide of the post. A nice move from the home side after 42 minutes brought Bene into a chance on goal but he could not hit the target from 10 meters. There was still time for Nego to shoot from a tight angle close to half time but the ball went wide of the far post. That meant the sides went into the dressing room with Vidi enjoying a single goal lead.

The second half started without any changes. The second period was 10 minutes old when a counter attack down the left ended with Hussein shooting, but the ball was blocked by Csicsek who was anyway in an offside position. Burics showed fine footwork and his right footed shot struck the post from 30 meters. A minute later and Stopira shot wide of the goal at the other end. The lead was doubled after 75 minutes: Milanov got hold of the ball and he took it down to the goal line before crossing into the middle for Futacs to make no mistake from close range (0-2).

The scoreline was completed after 80 minutes with a second for Futacs who scored from the penalty spot after Zsori was brought down. That made it a comfortable 3-0 win and progress into the next round.
