Goals from Nikolic and Nego earned Vidi a 2-0 win at ZTE on Sunday evening.
Match 23 of the OTP league saw Vidi make the visit to ZTE FC. The home side, just like us, made it through to the next round of the MOL Hungarian Cup during the week. They also beat Ujpest 3-0 in their last league game so Gabor Boer's side went into the game in good form.
Caretaker Manager Tamas Szalai chose the following side for the game: Kovacs D. - Bolla, Rus, Stopira, Fiola, Hangya - Ruben Pinto, Houri - Nego, Nikolic, Funsho.
The opening 10 minutes produced some big chances with the first arriving after 14 minutes played. Nego stepping over the ball and bringing Houri into the attack, before receiving it back and shooting wide from 10 meters. Another 10 minutes passed when Hangya sent a ball into the middle from the left and Nikolic put his neat header just wide of the left post from 9 meters out. Bolla sent a long range shot on 27 minutes at goal, but Bedi made contact to it and diverted into the side-netting. Bolla then provided Nego with a fine ball with half an hour played. He then controlled it before sending it over the bar.
The action continued with Bolla starting a move after 34 minutes. He lifted the ball into an open space for Nego, who played it back from the goal line, but Nikolic could not direct the ball on target. Three minutes later and Futacs tried to break the deadlock for the home side but it came off Stopira and out for a corner. The last memorable moment of the first half went to the home side. Koszta heading over when well placed as the two sides went in at the break with the score at 0-0.
Vidi enjoyed more of the ball in the second half and Tanasin fouled Petryak inside his own box on 63 minutes. Referee Ivanyi pointed at the spot and also sent off the defender to reduce ZTE to ten men. Nikolic stood behind the ball and confidently sent the penalty kick into the back of the net to make it 0-1 and also give Niko his 100th league goal.
ZTE tried to get back into the game after falling behind but they could not get through a good Vidi defence. Vidi managed to extend their lead when Alef played through a lovely ball into the path of Nego, who shot across goal and in off the post to make it 0-2.
Bourard had a shot after 84 minutes while Stopira went close as his shot was saved by keeper Gyurijan after 90 minutes. There were no further goals as Vidi clinched a good 2-0 win at Zalaegerszeg. We are next in action on Wednesday evening when we entertain Paks at the MOL Arena Sosto.
