The squad flew out to their training camp in Marbella on Saturday afternoon.
The players do not have to wait too long for their first game of 2019. It will be played at their Spanish training camp on Monday afternoon against FC Kaiserslautern.
The German side have won their domestic league four times in 1951, 1953, 1991 and 1998. They finished top on 1998 with Hungarian duo Janos Hrutka and Lajos Szucs as part of their squad. They have also won the German cup twice in 1990 and again in 1996. The German Super Cup was also lifted in 1991.
Kaiserslautern were most recently a Bundesliga side in season 2011/12. They then spent the next three seasons battling for promotion, but without success. They then had to fight relegation to the third division in 2016 and ended up slipping out of Bundesliga II.
They started 2018/19 as a third division side and following 20 league games in a league of 20 sides find themselves in 11th place. Their squad is valued at 6,8 million euros. Transfermarkt has three players valued at half a million with 28 year old Mads Albaek, 26 ear old Kevin Kraus and 24 year old Lukas Spalvis the trio.
Vidi played out a 0-0 draw with them in January 2016 when they were a Bundesliga II side.
