Filipe Oliveira: We worked really hard for the success and I am proud of the team

The Portuguese midfielder revealed how difficult the season has been. Very few would have thought it possible to secure second place, but the team never gave up.

"It was not a simple season, as we did not start off in the league too well. Many will remember that we were occupying a relegation place at the start. If we take this also into account, then I feel that overall we can describe the second place finish as fantastic. We worked really hard for the success and never gave up, just like the supporters, who stayed with us throughout. They backed us through the difficult periods. I am very proud of both my team mates and Ferenc Horvath, together with the coaching staff. Very few people would have thought during the middle of the season that we would end up in second place. We believed in ourselves and the team throughout. Then we did not make any mistakes over the final 4-5 games, and the team ended up showing their strength. I would pick out the away win at Paks from the big games, as we managed to win at the home of a strong and massive side. Not too many teams succeed in coming away with 3 points from there. We also know that we owe the supporters as we did not win anything this year. The team still battled to qualify for European competition. I really hope that we can achieve good results in the Europa League. Now it is all about resting as a difficult season is behind us. I did not really rest during the winter as it was then that I underwent an operation, which was followed by rehabilitation. Now there is nothing to stop me from recharging myself fully over the next few weeks. I am also looking forward to the European Championships, which will be very special for me as Hungary and Portugal have been drawn in the same group. I have been living in Hungary for 5 years now and my family really loves this country. My children have grown up here. There is a good chance that my Vidi team mates will play in those games, so I will be supporting them and the Hungarian team. I am sure that the Hungary - Portugal game will be very emotional for me" - commented Filipe Oliveira to vidi.hu.
