Debrecen took the lead after 4 minutes, but Vidi would still have gone through on the away goal rule. Videoton created many chances but it was the visitors who scored a second goal towards the end of the match.
The return leg in the league cup saw Vidi going in to the game with an advantage. They had won the first leg at Debrecen's Nagyerdei stadium 3-2 around a month ago.
The visitors started the game better and took the lead on 4 minutes. Debrecen had already had three corners, before Peter Mate received the ball and made no mistake to calmly put his side ahead from close range (0-1). Calatayud pulled of a good stop to deny Kulcsar after 9 minutes. Ivanovsky then worked well to create space before lifting the ball just over the bar on 13 minutes. Keeper Verpecz was left stranded as the Macedonian player just failed to level for Vidi. Ivanovsky then received a kick to the head following a corner on 18 minutes, which required treatment for the frontman. The match referee then pulled up with an injury a minute later. He was forced to come off and there was a delay of several minutes before Szabolcs Szilasi took over.
Brachi and Ivanovski worked well on 26 minutes that ended with the Spanish defender putting in a cross, which was volleyed first time by Oliveira, but the visitors kept their lead in tact. A free kick was awarded to Vidi two minutes later. A good ball in to the far post was almost connected with by Chakla, but he just failed to finish off a good move. Vidi went closest to scoring in the first half after 39 minutes. Kovacs ran towards goal and sent a lovely ball on to the crossbar from 14 meters out.
Joan Carrillo made a change at half time bringing on Sandor in place of Simon. The first real chance of the second period arrived on 52 minutes through Oliveira, while Ivanovski was fed a lovely ball from Sandor, but both chances did not end in the back of the net. Debrecen player Sos could have scored a goal, with his powerful shot clipping the crossbar. It was Vidi that enjoyed more of the ball in the minutes that followed as the Fehervar side tried hard to carve out more chances. It was Debrecen that managed to score and increase their lead on 73 minutes. Kulcsar beat his marker and curled the ball home from 7 meters out to make it 0-2. Feczesin and Nikolics had already come on for the home team to try and help score the goal that would have meant progression to the next round. A Guyrcso cross was met with a shot from close range by Nikolics on 88 minutes, but the ball cannoned off a defenders leg and away from danger.
A Mareval cross on 92 minutes was headed wide from the unmarked Feczesin. Vidi tried hard to force their way back in to the game, but nothing seemed to go right for the home side in front of the opponents goal. Debrecen worked their way back in to the tie and ended up going through 4-3 on aggregate. It was their second win at the Sostoi following the league win back in October. Vidi will next face Elemer Kondas' side on the 2nd May in Debrecen. Pecs are the next visitors to the Sostoi on Saturday with kick off at 18:30pm.
