Danish side win the first leg 1-0

A single second half goal settled the first leg with Vidi having all to play for next week.

Vidi were in Europa League Q3, first leg action at the Pancho Arena in Felcsut on Thursday evening. Danish side Midtjylland were the opponents with close to 3000 coming out to watch the match. Videoton had played their first two qualifying rounds with the first leg both being at home and yet to concede.

The first action of the game came on 3 minutes when Bodi tried his luck with a long range shot, which went over the bar. Lazovic then played a lovely ball to Geresi a couple of minutes later, and he broke towards goal, but Dahlin came out well and got hold of the ball. With almost 15 minutes on the clock, Suljic showed good skill around the box, but his shot did not have enough power, and the visitors were able to clear.

The action continued on 28 minutes with Rilwan Hassan shooting wide from 24 meters. Another 5 minutes past before Nego aimed at goal from 20 meters, but the ball rebounded in front of Lazovic, who ended up going down inside the box, but the referee waved play on. The end of the first half was approaching when Nego went down the right before sending in a ball to the middle, but a Danish defender cleared it for a corner, with Lazovic pouncing to make a connection. Hassan had the final chance of the first period with Kovacsik saving well from close range.

Henning Berg made a change at half time when he brought on Feczesin for Lazovic. Vidi had a very good chance on 50 minutes when Bodi curled a free kick, which was spilled by the keeper, and the rebound fell to Stopira who hit it straight at the keeper. Nego found Feczesin with a ball minutes later, and the forward went down beside Novak in the box, but again the referee did not blow his whistle.

The visitors went ahead on 55 minutes when Novak kept his calm to slip the ball beyond Kovacsik. (0-1). He turned the final defender to leave himself with a good chance to break the deadlock. Geresi found Oliveira after 65 minutes, and he volleyed at goal, but Olsson was well placed to block the effort. Stopira sent in a cross from the left minutes later, which Nego shot over from when well placed. Hansen saw his shot go just over after 76 minutes following a free kick. Oliveira had a chance with a minute left of normal time. The midfielder got hold of the ball around the Danish box, before bringing out a good save from Dahlin.

The final whistle blew and it was the visitors who will take a 1-0 lead into the return leg next Thursday.
