Comfortable home win for Vidi and a Niko goal

Vidi led 3-0 at the break and ended up winning by the same scoreline.

Match 23 of the OTP league season saw a home game against bottom of the league Kaposvar. Manager Joan Carrillo made one change to the side that defeated ZTE last weekend. Vinicius came in the replace Fiola in defence.

First half: three goals inside forty-five minutes, which included a first goal for Funsho and Niko's first since returning to the club.

The game started well with Kovacs breaking into the box in the opening minute. The ball rebounded back to him and he crossed for Funsho to pounce and make it 1-0. It was the Nigerian winger's first goal for Vidi.

A free kick on 9 minutes ended up coming off the head of a visiting defender and Vinicius did well to show great movement and send his scissor kick over the bar. Vidi again looked dangerous 8 minutes later. Houri crossed and it was Patkai at the far post who sent his volley just wide from 18 meters.

Petryak tried to findNikolic unmarked in the middle after 21 minutes, but it was visiting defender Tamas Nagy who made contact and it ended up going into his own net (2-0).

Good link up play five minutes later saw Petryak-Nikolic and Petryak combine with the Ukrainian winger curled his shot over the bar. The first half finished with another goal for the home side and that settled the match. Houri did really well to release Petryak who took the ball towards goal. He showed great unselfishness to lay the ball to his right and into the path of Nemanja Nikolic, who placed his shot into the back of the net. (3-0). It was the first goal for the forward since returning to the club.

Niko's last goal was 1771 days ago in an NB I match. That was back on the 25th April 2015 against PMFC in a 4-0 win.

1771 - back in the number 17 shirt, which he repeated today in the 71 shirt...

Second half - comfortably held onto the lead

The second period began with a big chance for Vidi. Istvan Kovacs bent his shot at goal from 14 meters, which keeper Pogacsics did really well to palm away. Nikolic played in Petryak after 54 minutes, who from 8 meters hit the side netting. Petryak then found Nikolic with a pass a minute later, but the Kaposvar keeper managed to collect the ball.

Petryak was played through following a 66th minute Stopira header, but the keeper raced out to clear ahead of Nikolic. Niko also showed unselfishness by finding Hodzic, but the forward saw his shot blocked by the foot of a defending player. Patkai got in behind the defence and his powerful shot was again saved by Pogacsics.

Vidi comfortably saw out the remainder of the game but could not find another goal. The match ended in a 3-0 home win. The team are next in action at the home of ZTE in midweek in the Hungarian Cup.
