Vidi played 40 minutes with ten men against the Budapest side. Feczesin scored a double and Alvarez also found the back of the net. Videoton continue to lead Group E.
Vidi kicked off their third Group E league cup match at the Sostoi on Tuesday in early autumn weather. Vasas had beaten Ajka 4-0 earlier in the day in the other group game.
The visitors began the match at a good tempo, trying several times to bring M'Bomat in to the game, but Caneira and Chakla worked well together at the heart of the defence. Rojo shot from a tight angle after 10 minutes, which Horvath saved well. Then the home keeper was again called upon to stop a shot from M'Boma, and then Ahmeti headed a good chance in to the side netting. Alvarez showed good skill on 16 minutes to trick the defender on the goal line, before cutting into the box, where he was brought down. Referee Gabor Olah pointed to the penalty spot. Feczesin took the spot kick and sent the ball in to the bottom left hand corner of the net to make it 1-0.
Ujpest could have levelled two minutes later, when M'Boma once again found himself with a chance, but Horvath again saved well. Tcveiba then headed over on 20 minutes. Rojo sent a free kick wide after 31 minutes, The visitors continued to try, but they could not really carve out a real chance. There were crosses towards the end of the first half from both Pajac and Alvarez, which keeper Banai and his defence coped well with. Then as many were switching their thoughts to Vidi going in at half time with a goal advantage, the home side increased their lead. Pajac fed Feczesin who took the ball towards the goal line, before sending a cross in to the middle, but the ball came off the foot of a defender and Alvarez found himself with a chance, which he took as he found the left corner of the net. The match official then blew for half time with the score at 2-0.
The second half did not begin too well, with Pajac being sent off after 51 minutes by referee Gabor Olah. The Croatian midfielder had slid in from behind on the opponent. The visitors were then awarded a penalty after 57 minutes: Kosovic and Fejes arrived for a cross, with the former falling and the referee judging that the latter had fouled his opponent. Stanisavljevic converted the resulting penalty to make it 2-1.
Ujpest did all they could to find the leveller, which they could not manage. Vidi then extended their lead 15 minutes after the visitors goal. Feczesin received a good ball inside the area, which he controlled well and then showed good skill, before being fouled and the penalty awarded. Feczesin again stood behind the ball and scored his second goal of the game to make it 3-1.
Vidi could have scored a further goal, when Trebotic released Brachi on the right, who sent a high ball in to the middle, where Zsolt Nagy arrived on his own, but his strike went wide of the left hand post. There were small chances in the remaining ten minutes. However, the final score was 3-1 and Vidi continue to comfortably lead the group with a 100% record. This was the 16th win from 16 games this season!
Vidi are next in action next Wednesday when they play the return match in the league cup in Ujpest.
