Vidi pick up the 3 points in a 1-0 win over Mezokovesd

A first half goal from Marko Futacs earned Vidi the win as they remain second in the league.

MOL Vidi FC played host to Mezokovesd Zsory FC in match 25 of the OTP league season on Saturday. Manager Marko Nikolic made three changes to the side that started most recently against Paks. Futacs, Milanov and Elek came in for Huszti, Hodzic and Patkai. Drazic recovered from an injury while Farkas returned from suspension for the visitors.

The first action of the game arrived after 3 minutes: a long range free kick from Milanov was headed out and the ball bounced in front of Vinicius, who from 15 meters hit his effort over. Vidi had a big chance after 6 minutes when Futacs laid the ball back to Milanov, with Katanec slipping and the Bulgarian taking the ball towards Pillar. He found Scepovic with a good ball and the Serbian forward chose to play the ball across goal towards Futacs, who from a tight angle could not find the target. Mezokovesd player Silye broke into the box after 8 minutes and he played it back to Molnar, with the forward curling a shot from 12 meters that landed on the top of the goal. Molnar found Drazic with the ball after 10 minutes and the forward just failed to beat Kovacsik who was quicker to react.

A quieter period then followed in the game but that changed after 26 minutes when Molnar's shot failed to find the target. The visiting team then went on the counter attack after 32 minutes with Koszta taking the ball one-on-one towards Juhasz, but the Vidi captain stood his ground and did very well to deny him. Stopira sent in a cross a couple of minutes later, which was headed away and into the path of Elek, who tried his luck with an overhead kick. The ball went just over the bar.

The breakthrough came after 35 minutes through Marko Futacs. Kovacs took the ball towards the defenders on the right, before playing it to Hadzic. The Bosnian midfielder curled the ball to the unmarked Nego on the right who sent in a cross. Keeper Szappanos appeared to make contact but it fell to Milanov on the left. He sent in a low cross, which was controlled by Futacs who then turned quickly to hit a first time shot into the corner to make it 1-0. The referee blew for half time and the teams went in at the break with Vidi enjoying a 1-0 lead.

There were no changes at half time and the second period began with the visitors Meskhi passing to Drazic, who played it on to Molnar. The winger got his head to it but by the time he was in with a chance on goal, Stopira recovered to tackle. The 50th minute saw Vinicius send a powerful header at goal following a corner, in what was a similar move to the midweek cup game at Ferencvaros. However, this time it did not end in a goal but was flicked just wide of the left post. Milanov then crossed and it took a deflection of Farkas before Szappanos saved the effort.

A Bertus cross on 58 minutes was headed wide in what was a good chance by Drazic. However, the assistant referee had already flagged for offside. Mezokovesd had another chance when Koszta released the ball between the centre backs and Drazic found himself challenged by both Juhasz and Vinicius, which ended with the ball in front of Molnar, but Kovacsik raced out to save really well and Stopira hooked the ball clear.

The chances kept on coming and after 61 minutes, it was Vidi that had a chance when Kovacs took the ball beyond 3 visiting defenders and he placed the ball to his left where Futacs was running in on goal. The forward shot with power with his left foot and it only just went wide of the target. Kovacs then ran at goal after 77 minutes and he took it beyond Szeles and powerfully shot from 16 meters, but it hit the post.

Huszti came on for Milanov shortly after and with 79 minutes played, the midfielder found Vinicius, who could not guide his shot at goal after coming under pressure and it eventually went over. Nikolov replaced Futacs after 84 minutes as the minutes ticked by. In the end Vidi kept their 1-0 lead and picked up the 3 league points to remain behind FTC, who also managed to win.
