Monicomp League: Győri ETO - Videoton FC 1-1 (0-0)
Videoton picked up a point at a tense ETO park on Friday night. The game exploded into action in the final moments of the match, as an Andre Alves penalty secured a point for Gyorgy Mezey's side. Vidi were backed by a loud away following of around 300, who made the short journey to Győr, which was also the venue when Videoton faced Maribor in the summer Europa League home leg. There were no major surprises as manager Mezey named his starting line up. The first half was a quiet affair with both defences coming out on top.
The 45th minute yellow card, which was shown to Zoltan Liptak meant that he reached 5 yellows, resulting in him missing out in the next home league match with Ujpest FC.The second half turned on three sending off's with Győri ETO reduced to ten men after 52 minutes when Sztanisics was shown a red, having taken out Nikolics. Gyorgy Mezey was given a further headache as central defender Tamas Vasko was also shown red, after he handballed following an ETO shot. The resulting freekick from Ganaugrava took a deflection, leaving keeper Boszovics stranded on his line, before hitting the back of the net.
Things looked bleak at that point with Vidi facing defeat. However, they showed character and substitute Szakaly was pushed in the box by Feher. Referee Ferenc Bede pointed to the spot, but not before he had sent off Feher for head butting Szakaly. Andre Alves remained cool to powerfully hit home from the penalty spot, to send the travelling fans into delight. It was an amazing final five minutes at the end, which saw two red cards and two goals, one at each end, to make it a final score of 1-1 and earn the red and blues a point.
