A Bodi goal was not enough as goals in each half gave the home side a cup win.
A place in the last 16 of the Hungarian cup was at stake on Wednesday afternoon in Budafok. The third division side are currently in second place in their league and knocked out second division side Szeged in the last round. There were extremely windy conditions as the team lined up with several youngsters including Bevardi, Kovacs and Varga getting the chance.
The first chance of the game fell on 10 minutes when the home sides Fekete tried to lift the ball over keeper Horvath, but it was the Vidi goalkeeper that saved the effort. Ladnayi twice tried his luck during the middle of the first half. However, neither caused Tamas Horvath difficulty in front of a small midday crowd. Bodi just failed to get on the end of a short back pass with the Budafok keeper clearing the danger away with his feet. The home side went ahead on the half hour mark. Vanki tricked Varga on the wing before cutting the ball back low to Gruz, who from 7 meters, found the back of the net (1-0).
The 37th minute saw Kovacs release Nego, who hit the back of the net but it was adjudged offside. That was the final chance of the first half.
Henning Berg made three changes at the break. Barczi, Bevardi and Poloskei were replaced by Juhasz, Hadzic and Geresi. The latter quickly found himself with a chance, but he shot just wide of the left post. The Budafoki keeper then saved a 52nd minute Juhasz header. Geresi then eased his way past a defender minutes later, before crossing the ball for Bodi to play the ball back in to the far post, but a defender was quickest to react and cleared the ball.
Vidi put Laszlo Prukner's side under pressure and had them camped in their own half. The home team were relying on the counter attack. Vinicius sent his shot over the bar on 61 minutes, while Szabo held another Juhasz header minutes later. The equaliser eventually came after 66 minutes: Bodi did well to control a ball before finding the back of the net with his 13 meters shot (1-1).
The outlook of the game did not change after the leveller as Vidi had more of the ball and tried to create chances. However, they found the home teams defence hard to break down. Kovacs passed the ball to his right and found Hadzic, who found the far post with his low 78 minutes shot. Szabo was again called into action as he saved a Bodi shot. With the cup match looking as if it was heading into extra time, a quick counter attack from Budafok ended up being the winning goal. Csizmadia played in Kovacs from his own half, and he ran alone towards Horvath's goal and his powerful shot went in to make it 2-1.
The 3 minutes of injury time did not bring any chances although Kovacs did see his shot blocked inside the area by a defender. Budafok made it into the next round with their 2-1 win as Vidi went out of the cup. The red and blues are next in action on Saturday with a visit to Debrecen in the OTP league.
