Videoton and Vasas shared the points at the Pancho Arena on Saturday evening.
Videoton took on Vasas at the Pancho Arena on Saturday evening. It was the third game against the Budapest side this season. Vasas won the first match at the Faj street stadium in the summer by 2-1. Vidi beat them 2-0 in the match at the Sostoi stadium in the autumn to collect the three points.
Ferenc Horvath made one change to the side that beat Debrecen 1-0 in midweek. Adam Simon missed out after picking up his 5th booking, which meant that Mate Patkai took his place in midfield. Vidi could have gone ahead as early as the 4th minute, Haraszti fed Szolnoki with the ball on the right, and the defender found Geresi, who shot at goal from 5 meters, but keeper Hermany was in the right place to save it. The rebound fell to Feczesin, but his shot was blocked by a defender.
The action continued on 7 minutes when Suljic released Geresi, who found Haraszti with a good ball, and the resulting shot went just wide of the bottom left corner. The home side enjoyed the majority of play inside the first 13 meters, but it was Vasas who took the lead after 14 minutes. A quick counter attack ended at the feet of Remili Mohamed, who lifted the ball over keeper Adam Kovacsik and into the back of the net. (0-1).
Another quick counter attack from the Budapest side just 4 minutes later saw them double their lead. The ball again found Remili with some fortune, and his shot from 13 meters evaded keeper Kovacsik, who got a hand to it, but he could not stop it from going in. (0-2).
There was a total of 5 corners during the 28th and 33rd minutes, but none of them caused real danger for the Vasas goal. Oliveira did have a shot that appeared to make contact with the hand of a visiting player, but the match official waved play on in the final moment of the first half.
Vidi placed great pressure on the visiting goal for the majority of the second half. Those included several good chances to get back into the match. The 52nd minute saw Juhasz head at goal after an Oliveira free kick. The header was saved by Hermany, who pulled off some good saves to keep his side's advantage intact. Geresi curled the ball
Geresi was seeing a lot of the ball on the left and was a constant threat for the visiting defenders. He was in the thick of the action after 62 minutes. Suljic collected the ball and showed good skill before finding Geresi, who from 12 meters shot at goal from the left, but again Hermany was in the right place to deny him with a very good save.
Vidi came back into the game after 74 minutes! Oliveira's cross found Geresi, who took the ball out wide before the youngster scored his second ever goal in the first division to make it 1-2 from close range. The comeback was complete 5 minutes later: Geresi sent the ball in from the left, and the ball at the far post was headed back in to the path of Nego, who turned and sent a good low shot into the back of the net from 15 meters. (2-2).
The red and blues could have scored a winner after 88 minutes, but Tischler missed a very big chance from close range, as Hermany saved a point blank header. Vasas had a counter attack in time added on, but it was ruled offside and the two sides shared the points as the referee blew for full time.
Videoton are next in action on the 16th April, when they travel to Paks for the match that kicks off at 18:00pm.
