Vidi and Debrecen share a draw

A goal from Kevin Varga gave Debrecen the lead but a fantastic volley from Tamas gave Vidi a point.

Vidi had a league match at the Pancho Arena in between their two Champions League matches against Malmö. There was a start for the first time in a league game for Bence Sos, who joined the red and blues in the summer.

The game began well with Marko Scepovic shooting from 20 meters after 10 meters, but the ball bounced off the post and eventually went out off the back of keeper Sandor Nagy. Then from virtually nothing, the visitors went ahead four minutes later when Kevin Varga controlled the ball and found the back of the net with a low shot from 20 meters (0-1).

Juhasz gained possession on 24 minutes and then stormed forward before finding Kovacs on the left, and continued to run forward. The midfielder saw his cross find his team captain in the box, but Juhasz could not put the ball past keeper Nagy. The visiting keeper also saved a shot from defender Tamas after 28 minutes. Huszti then had a good chance ten minutes later from a tight angle, but his powerful shot went into the side netting from 13 meters.

Marko Nikolic made two changes at the break with Sos and Varga being replaced by Nikolov and Hadzic. With 52 minutes played, Tozser hit a dangerous free kick wide of the goal for the visiting team. The next dangerous effort came after 58 minutes with Tamas playing a one-two with Scepovic and then crossing the ball in, but a defender managed to clear the danger. We had to wait a further 20 minutes for another chance on goal, which came from the head of Juhasz following a free kick.

With 5 minutes remaining, Debrecen player Bereczki could have settled the game as he tried to take the ball around Kovacsik, but he ended up losing his balance and could not guide the ball in to the empty net. It seemed as if the visitors would get all three points but Kovacs crossed from the goal line on 91 minutes, which keeper Nagy parried, and the ball fell to the feet of Tamas, who from 18 meters out sent a bomb into the back of the net (1-1). That proved to be the final chance and the two sides share a point as they both remain unbeaten in the league.

Vidi are next in action on Tuesday with the second leg against Malmö.
