Soproni league: Debrecen - Videoton 3-1 (0-0)
Videoton went down 3-1 at champions Debrecen, despite taking the lead. Vidi lined up with a new formation, which included three central defenders, with Horvath, Liptak and Vasko, giving the defence a new look. The new formation worked well in the first 45 minutes with very little space behind the Vidi back line. Vidi had good chances to take the lead, with Lazar hitting the post, and a Gabor Horvath header, from a corner, going very close. The first half was very tactical with each side cancelling out the other. That all changed after 55 minutes when Alves beat the full back before playing a clever ball across, for the arriving Gyorgy Sandor to tap home from close range.
This mirrored last season's match, where Akos Elek also gave Videoton the lead. However, Debrecen managed to turn things around, with Yannick causing problems on the left. His pace took him past Vasko, before Liptak was adjudged to have brought him down. The penalty just went in despite a brave attempt from Tujvel to keep it out. The home side then took the lead when Yannick once again found room on the left, and sent a low shot into the far corner of the net. The game was made safe when another cross from the left was converted into his own net by defender Gabor Horvath.
