First Division: Videoton - Haladas 3-1 (1-0) Alves (2), Gosztonyi
Vidi went top of the league after a paper form win over Haladas on Friday afternoon. It took two good goals from Brazilian striker Andre Alves to keep all three points at the Sostoi stadium. Manager Gyorgy Mezey had asked his side not to repeat the start that they had made in the last home match against Szolnok. He was also looking for his side to get an early goal and take the chances that came their way. It appeared as if it was Alves who understood what his manager was after the most. He scored a great goal after 10 minutes, curling a lovely effort into the top corner.
Vidi continued to go forward and looked in control during the first half. However, they were unable to get any more goals in the first 45 minutes. Haladas were performing better than they had done in recent matches, even if they were making lots of fouls around the pitch. Haladas managed to get back on level terms after Kennesi scored from the penalty spot, after Elek's challenge. That was as good as it got for the green and whites, as Alves was on hand once again in the right place to do the business. Vidi went up a gear and it was Gosztonyi who made the game safe, scoring his first goal for the club. Haladas never gave up and tried to go forward looking for a consolation, but Videoton's win was never in doubt.
