Two goal lead ends in drawn match with Ujpest

Vidi led 2-0 after 5 minutes with goals from Hente and Hadzic but had to settle for a 2-2 draw in the end.

Videoton travelled to Ujpest FC on Saturday in match 14 of the OTP league season. The lilacs drew 2-2 back in the summer with Vidi. Istvan Kovacs was missing through injury while Danko Lazovic was suspended.

It was a dream start for the red and blues with hardly 30 seconds on the clock. Ujpest keeper Pajovic picked the ball out of the net after Henty's original shot came back of the post but the rebound fell kindly to the same player who made no mistake to make it 0-1 with a powerful shot that went in just under the bar.

The lead was doubled moments later as Vidi raced 2-0 ahead. Scepovic received the ball inside the box before hitting a low shot that was palmed away by Pajovic, but Hadzic was on hand to make no mistake 0-2.

Henty turned his man on 11 minutes before playing in Scepovic instead of shooting, but the forward shot high over the bar from 13 meters. The action continued on 17 minutes when Pajovics reacted well to come out of goal and clear ahead of Henty. It could have been goal number three when Scepovic raced clear on goal but saw his low shot come back off the post.

Juhasz connected with his head from a pass on the half hour by Scepovic, which just went wide. The game then turned somewhat 8 minutes later when Hadzic and Pauljevicc battled for the ball. The Ujpest player made contact with Hadzic' face, who reacted back, but although he did not make any contact with the Ujpest player, Pauljevics fell suddenly to the floor and referee Solymosi showed a straight red at the Bosnian midfielder.

A 43rd minute Nagy cross saw Novothny make contact, but Stopira managed to clear the danger as the referee blew shortly after for half time.

Nego came on for Juhasz at the break and Ujpest found themselves back in the game shortly after. A ball ended up with Pauljevics, who found the top right corner 1-2.

It was a match with plenty of action and turning points. Suljic tried his luck from the middle some 14 meters out, but his volley did not hit the target. There were several yellow cards shown in the second half with the referee constantly being called upon. The Budapest side then got right back in the game with the equaliser. Pauljevics sent in a cross that Nagy played back into the middle and into the path for Tischler to head home and make it 2-2.

Suljic won a free kick after 80 minutes some 17 meters from goal. Henty stood behind the ball and curled a shot over the wall but keeper Pajovics was equal to it.

Vidi were then reduced to 9 men in the closing minutes as Suljic received his marching orders. The winger had complained to the match official and Solymosi showed him a red. Varga headed the resulting free kick out for a corner.

Kovacsik pulled off a lovely save to deny Tischler from the penalty spot after Nego had clashed with Mohl inside the box. The keeper dived low to his right to palm away the penalty. The score remained at 2-2 as the minutes ticked by. Bence Toth came on for Vidi in the closing minutes to make his league debut as the referee blew for full time shortly after.

Vidi are next in action next week at home to Mezokovesd.
