Three goal win in the first summer friendly

Second half goals from Stefan, Vinicius and Sos gave Videoton a 3-0 win in Austria.

The first friendly of the 2018/19 season took place at the Dietersdorfi stadium on Tuesday. The opponents were Austrian second division side Kapfenberger SV. Marko Nikolic played the following eleven in the first half: Kovácsik – Nego, Juhász, Fiola, Tamás – Varga – Berecz, Pátkai – Kovács – Marko Scsepovics, Lazovics. There was a debut for new signing from Vasas, Zsombor Berecz.

The first shot arrived after just two minutes when a powerful long range shot from Trim went wide of the goal. There was work for the Austrian keeper on 6 minutes after Zacher cleared the ball ahead of Danko Lazovic. Tamas played in Lazovic five minutes later, and he set up Marko Scepovic with a good chance, but the ball went wide of the far post from 14 meters. Trim had another good chance for the Austrian side in the middle of the first half, but Kovacsik denied him with a save as the ball went out for a corner. Nego's cross from the right was volleyed at goal by Scepovic, but it did not find the target.

There were no further chances in the first period and there was a virtually different side that ran out for the second half: Tujvel – Bolla, Vinícius, Tóth, Stopira – Hadzic – Nikolov, Réti – Huszti – Stefan Scepovics, Sós. There was a first start for Sos in a Videoton shirt.

The signing from Debrecen was quick into the action with a good pass towards Stefan, but it was not accurate enough, as the Austrians cleared the danger ahead of Huszti. The breakthrough and lead arrived after 53 minutes. The first goal of the new season came from a Huszti freekick, which bounced off the ball and into the path of Bolla, who crossed for Stefan to head nicely into the back of the net (0-1).

Stefan could have provided an assist a minute later, but the keeper pulled off a good save to deny Sos, whose shot was on target. The keeper could do nothing after 67 minutes when Huszti's corner was headed into the net by Vinicius (0-2). Bence Sos made his name onto the score sheet in the closing moments. Anel Hadzic passed to the new signing and he rolled the ball into the bottom right corner (0-3).

It was a comfortable win with the next friendly game on the 23rd June.
