SLOVENIA U21

Nejc Gradisar plays his part in the Slovenian U21 qualification for the European Championship

On Friday night the Slovenians were still celebrating modestly, but by now it has been decided that they will definitely participate in next year's U21 European Championship

Although UEFA's website did not list Slovenia as a definite U21 participant on Monday morning, there can be no results on the final day of qualifying - which Slovenia will not play in - that would prevent Slovenia from qualifying for next year's U21 European Championship, which Slovakia will host.

The Slovenians are currently top of their group with 17 points, but as already indicated, they will not play on the final day, so a draw against Austria would be enough for the 16-point French side to finish top of their group, as they have a better record against each other than the Slovenians. In that case, the Slovenians will qualify for the European Championship as group runners-up, with the top three finishers automatically qualifying for the tournament and the rest qualifying for the knockout stage. Slovenia, with 17 points, are certain to finish in the top three.

The Slovenian Football Federation has also announced on its website that they have qualified for the European Championship, but Slovenian sports websites have also congratulated the U21 team, which will be playing in its second U21 tournament in history, but the first to qualify for the tournament. In 2021, they co-hosted the tournament with Hungary and participated as hosts.

Congratulations also to Nejc Gradisar.
