Match Report: Victory against Haladas

A goal from Istvan Kovacs gave MOL Vidi FC the 3 points on Saturday evening.

Bottom of the league Haladas were the visitors at the MOL Arena Sosto on Saturday in match 22 of the season. Both sides were involved in Hungarian cup action during the week. Vidi won 1-0 away at Taksony, while Szombathely Haladas drew away at Mezokovesd. Director of Football Zoltan Kovacs was present before the kick off to pay tribute to Stopira on his 150th league appearance.

First half - No real chances in front of either goal

Vidi were quick to take control of the game early on although neither side managed to create a chance in front of goal. Ivanov had a long range shot after 16 minutes that was saved by Vidi keeper Kovacsik. Scepovic also had a shot from distance in the same minute at the other end. Elek played Nego in after 24 minutes, who did well to control the ball and beat his defender before sending a ball across goal, but Hodzic did not make clean contact with the ball. The game was 30 minutes old when Rabusic shot from a tight angle, but his effort did not have any real power and Kovacsik dealt with it comfortably. That was the last moment of note from the first half.

Second half - Kovacs settles the 3 points with a goal

The second half started with a big chance for Vidi. A 49th minute cross from Scepovic found Milanov unmarked in side the box, but the Bulgarian midfielder did not turn towards goal and instead tried to bring Hodzic into play. His pass did find his team mate and the danger went. A counter attack ended with Haladas player Ivanov in with a chance, but his shot into the back of the net was ruled offside by the official. The match continued with the score at 0-0.

Ofosu played the ball to Milan Nemeth with 15 minutes left, before cutting inside and taking the ball beyond Nego and Juhasz, but his shot on goal from 20 meters was collected by Kovacsik. The breakthrough and winning goal arrived on 78 minutes. Scepovic crossed with his right foot from the left, and the ball curled in front of goal for Istvan Kovacs to stick his foot out after running in behind the defender with keeper Kiraly helpless. (1-0).

Istvan Kovacs did not celebrate the goal against his former club. Scepovic hit a shot after 86 minutes, which was blocked by a Haladas defender. The score remained 1-0 and the three points keep Vidi 6 points behind Ferencvaros, who had beaten Puskas Academy 4-0.

Vidi have two games at the MOL Arena Sosto next week. The first is on Wednesday at 18:00pm when the second leg of the Hungarian Cup against Taksony takes place. Then Kisvarda are the visitors in an NB I match on Saturday.
