Videoton lost 3-1 in the capital on Saturday evening despite taking the lead.
Videoton were the visitors away at Vasas in match 9 of the OTP league season. The Budapest side went into the game in 7th place while Vidi led the table by 5 points. Anel Hadzic was forced to miss the game with a slight muscle strain.
It was Videoton that started the game the better: Mate Patkai could possibly have scored the goal of the season on 13 minutes. A Szolnoki shot ended with Patkai with his back to goal and he sent a scissor kick into the corner of Kamenar's goal. (0-1).
Sadly the continuation in the first half did not go too well. With 22 minutes on the clock, Simunek flicked the ball on, but Vida sent a ball into the box for Burmeister to rise and head beyond Kovacsik and into the corner of the net (1-1). That was not the end as Vasas turned the game around with a second goal 6 minutes later. Risztevszki sent another header into the goal (2-1).
There were two penalty appeals in the final minutes of the first half. First James brought down Juhasz inside the box, but it was Fiola that received a yellow card. Then Patkai was bundled to the ground. Referee Ando Szabo waved play on as his whistle remained silent.
Vidi came out for the second half unchanged. It was Henty that had the first chance when he unselfishly played the ball for Scepovic to roll into the back of the net, but the assistant ref flagged offside. Nego replaced Varga after 54 minutes. The French defender received a yellow card within seconds of coming on together with Gaal. Patkai also found his way into the referee's notebook.
Kovacs came on for Szolnoki after 67 minutes and it was Vidi that began to take things over but they could not find the equaliser. A dangerous cross from Nego did not find a shirt while Gaal missed a big chance infront of goal for Vasas. It was the opponents that put pressure on Vidi towards the end and a cross from the left was met by Burmeister who found the back of the empty net (3-1).
Geresi came on for Patkai on 84 minutes as Vidi tried to get something from the game. However, Videoton were reduced to 9 men in the closing stages with Nego being shown his second yellow. Lazovic was sent off for using his elbow. Vasas won 3-1 but Vidi continue to lead the first division.
